Shaken but Still Standing

Yesterday something happened that shook me greatly. For awhile I had a pity party for myself and kept asking God why, oh why Lord? I was shocked, hurt and felt like I was a failure. Then I remembered the story of Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah in 2 Chronicles 20. I have always loved that story and yesterday it brought me back to my senses. I realized that complaining and having a pity party was not going to get me anywhere. When trouble came to Jehoshaphat and his people in the form of 3 armies that were surrounding them preparing to attack, although he was afraid the first thing He did was to "...set his face to seek the Lord", he did not call upon his friends to help him attack his enemies neither did he moan, complain and question God - he chose to seek Him. If you read the story you will read about how God responded to the call of Jehoshaphat and his people - it is a beautiful story, one which I am taking some lessons from in my "time of trouble".

For those of you who can spare a minute or two please pray for me, I would really appreciate that. I have made up my mind to run into the strong tower of the name of the Lord were I know I am safe (Proverbs 18:10) and I am assured that all things will work together for my good (Romans 8:28).
Have a blessed Easter everyone.

  1. How many times do we remember the first thing we need to do? Thank God you read 2 Chronicles. Just said a prayer.

  2. Shona,

Thanks for sharing. Yes, pity partying only consoles for a while, thereafter, our issues still wait for us. The bible says "call upon me and I will answer you and I will show you great and mighty things which thou knowest not". As you call upon Him Shona, He will show you the light in your situation.

Father Lord, I commit Shona into your hands knowing that you have a plan for her. You are her glory and the lifter up of her head. Give her grace to stand here and now such that she'd give you the glory in the morrow to come. We thank you because you always hear us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen :)

  4. I have been shaken too and I know exactly what ur talking abt Shona. I learnt that it is at such times that u actually get to weigh yo faith and c exactly where u stand. After all the Bible does say that when ur weak in times of trouble then ur weak indeed.I have been thru a lot and Im glad im still standing and trusting God that my future can only be better than my present.God is faithful, I have seen it with my own eyes and i know He's in control of yo life Shona. When God gave the Israelites the land flowing with milk and honey, He didnt tell them there wld be giants there. This is becos God knew that the giants were not an issue. Its the same with us. God knows that the challenges of life r not an issue cos as far as He knows, He has made us mo than conquerors. Thats my msg to u Shona and others who myt be going thru challenges. Be the man/woman God created u to be. Stand strong and confident with yo chin up knowing that God sees a victor in u and not a victim. When God says all things work together for good to those who love the Lord, he means exactly that. All things means all the things happening in our lives, both good and bad.Be it the economic recession, getting fired from work, bad weather...they all work together to bring out a good thing for those who love Him. So fear not cos u love God and even those things that r happening or have happened, they r all working out for yo good!!!So my friend, ur still the winner at the end of the day.
